A. , University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. , 1992. J. D. , University of Michigan Law School, 1996. Staff aide, United States Senate Committee on the Budget, 1992. Special assistant, United States Department of Commerce, 1993. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fifth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1997-January 3, 2007). Not a candidate for reelection, but was an unsuccessful candidate to the United States Senate in 2006.
