Member of the Ohio state senate, 2000-2002. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eighth and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2003-January 3, 2023). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress in 2022, but was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate.
