Attended Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. New York National Guard, 1970-1976. Elected to Concord, N. Y. , town board, 1974-1982. Elected to Erie County, N. Y. , legislature, 1982-1988. Member of the New York state assembly, 1988-1998. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Sixth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1999-January 3, 2009). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eleventh Congress in 2008.
