Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-third and to the fourteen succeeding Congresses, served until his resignation on February 3, 2001 (January 3, 1973-February 3, 2001). Chairman, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (One Hundred Fourth through One Hundred Sixth Congresses). Died on April 19, 2023, in Everett, Pa.
