Reelected as a Democrat to the fourteen succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1973-May 28, 2001). Chairman, Committee on Rules (One Hundred First through One Hundred Third Congresses). Died on May 28, 2001, in Bethesda, Md. Interment in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, Mass.
