A. , University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. , 1966. J. D. , University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla. , 1969. Member of the Florida state house of representatives, 1972-1978. Member of the Florida state senate, 1986-1994. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Seventh and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2001-January 3, 2017). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundredth Fifteenth Congress in 2016.
