Welcomes the first democratically-elected President of Afghanistan, President Hamid Karzai, as an honored guest and friend upon his May 2005 visit to the United States.

Supports: (1) a democratic and prosperous Afghanistan as vital to U.S. security; and (2) a strategic partnership between the United States and Afghanistan as a primary objective of both countries.
