AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39 and Title 46, relative to places of burial.
ON MARCH 9, 2026, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1731, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 excludes from the definition of those who desecrate a place of burial an employee of the department of environment and conservation's division of archaeology in the ordinary course of the employee's duties and persons otherwise authorized by law to remove objects from a place of burial.
