Biography
A Representative from Pennsylvania. Born in Reading, Berks County, Pa. , October 16, 1927. Graduated from Reading High School, Reading, Pa. , 1946. Graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College, Kutztown, Pa. , 1950. Member of the Reading School Board, Reading, Pa. , 1955-1961. Member of the Pennsylvania state house of representatives, 1956-1960. Member of the Pennsylvania state senate, 1960-1968. Businessman. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-first and to the eleven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1969-January 3, 1993). Was not a candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992. Died on March 13, 2003, in Fairfax Station, Va. Interment in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pa.
