Mayor of Dennis Township, N. J. , 1994-1995, 1997-2003. Member of the board of chosen freeholders, Cape May County, N. J. , 1994-1997. Member of the New Jersey state general assembly, 2001-2007. Member of the New Jersey state senate, 2008-2019. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Sixteenth Congress. Changed party affiliation from a Democrat to a Republican on January 7, 2020. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Seventeenth and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2019-present).
