Resident of Kathmandu, Nepal, 1962-1967. Director, English Language Institute, Kathmandu, 1965-1967. Independent citizen lobbyist, consultant, and lecturer, 1971-1984. Member, Democratic National Committee, 1980-1988. Washington State representative, 1985-1988. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred First and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1989-January 3, 1995). Unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fourth Congress. Died on November 28, 2021, in Olympia, Wash.
