Unsuccessful candidate for election as New York state attorney general in 2010. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fourteenth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2015-January 3, 2023). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress in 2022.
