Arthur Ravenel Jr.

A Representative from South Carolina. Born in Charleston, S. C. , March 29, 1927. B. S. , College of Charleston, 1950. Served in the U. S. Marine Corps, 1945-1946. Realtor and general contractor. Member, South Carolina State house of representatives, 1953-1958. South Carolina State senate, 1980-1986. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundredth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1987-January 1995). Was not a candidate for reelection in 1994, but was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination for Governor of South Carolina. Member of the Charleston County school board, 2006-2010. Died on January 16, 2023, in Charleston, S. C. Interment at French Huguenot Church Cemetery, Charleston, S. C.
