A. , Winona State University, Winona, Minn. , 1974. Attended University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn. , 1975. United States Navy Reserve. Elected to the Minnesota state senate, 1976-1982. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-eighth and the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-January 3, 1995). Not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fourth Congress in 1994. Unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Minnesota in 2002.
