A Representative from Maryland. Born in Elmira, Chemung County, N. Y. , May 26, 1952. Graduated from Mansfield High School, Mansfield, Pa. , 1970. B. S. , University of Maryland, College Park, Md. , 1974. B. A. , Oxford University, Oxford, England. M. A. , Oxford University (Rhodes Scholar), Oxford, England, 1978. Professional basketball player. Founded an electronic equipment company and served as chairman of the board of an investment firm. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundredth and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1987-January 3, 1993). Unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992. Co-chair the President's Commission on Physical Fitness, 1993-1998. Is a resident of Crofton, Md.
