Admitted to the New York bar in 1974. Lawyer, private practice. Elected, St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators, 1973-1975. Member of the New York state assembly, 1976-1980. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-seventh and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1993). Was not a candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992. Professor, Naval War College, Newport, R. I. , 1993-1994. Private advocate. Business executive. Died on November 20, 2012, in Hedgesville, W. Va. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
