Elected to the California assembly, 1977-1982. Delegate, California State Democratic convention, 1977-1983. Delegate, Democratic National Convention, 1980 and 1984. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-January 3, 1993). Was not a candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992, but was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the United States Senate. Is a resident of Santa Monica, Calif.
