A Senator from New Hampshire. Born in Bristol, Hartford County, Conn. , October 9, 1940. Attended the public schools. Attended George Washington University, Washington, D. C. , 1962-1963, University of Maryland, College Park 1961-1962, and Burnside-Ott Aviation Institute 1962. Served in the United States Air Force 1958-1962. Professional pilot 1964-1978. Elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1978. Reelected in 1984 and served from January 3, 1979, to December 4, 1990, when he resigned to take his seat in the New Hampshire senate. Not a candidate for reelection in 1990. Elected to the New Hampshire state senate in 1990. Is a resident of Concord, N. H.
