A Representative from Kentucky. Born in Detroit, Wayne County, Mich. , October 25, 1933. Attended the public schools of Wingo, Ky. Attended Murray State University, 1951-1954. Served in the United States Marine Corps, 1954-1956. Stockbroker, Hilliard &. Lyons, Inc. County clerk, Fayette, Ky. , 1969. Served in the Kentucky State house of representatives, 1972-1976. State senate, 1976-1978. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-sixth and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1993). Unsuccessful candidate in 1991 for governor of Kentucky. Was not a candidate for renomination in 1992 to the One Hundred Third Congress. Director, Tobacco Division, Agricultural Marketing Service, United States Department of Agriculture. Died on November 15, 2021, in Lexington, Ky.
