Biography
A Representative from Georgia. Born in Doerun, Colquitt County, Ga. , July 1, 1939. Attended the public schools. B. S. , Georgia Southern College, Statesboro, 1965. J. D. , University of Georgia, Athens, 1969. Served in the United States Air Force, 1958-1962. Admitted to the Georgia bar in 1969 and commenced practice in Albany. Served in the Georgia house of representatives, 1973-1980. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-seventh and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1993). Unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1992 to the One Hundred Third Congress. Is a resident of Newton, Ga.
