A Representative from Texas. Born in Greenville, Hunt County, Tex. , January 18, 1943. Graduated from Eastern Hills High School, Fort Worth, Tex. , 1961. B. S. , Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth, Tex. , 1965. Teacher. Business owner. Member of the Fort Worth, Tex. , zoning commission, 1981-1989. Member of the Fort Worth, Tex. , city council, 1989-1991. Mayor of Fort Worth, Tex. , 1991-1995. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fifth and to the thirteen succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1997-January 3, 2025). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Nineteenth Congress in 2024. Chair, Committee on Appropriations (One Hundred Eighteenth Congress).
