Appointed by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to the Independent Panel to Review Department of Defense Detention Operations, 2004. Died on March 2, 2005, in Jacksonville, Fla. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Fla.
