D. , Baylor University, Waco, Tex. , 1977. Admitted to the Texas bar in 1977. Lawyer, private practice. Vice president, family-owned business, 1977-1980. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-seventh and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1997). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fifth Congress in 1996.
