Appointed chairman of the Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee, 2001- present. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Second Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Edward R. Madigan. Reelected to the One Hundred Third and to the three succeeding Congresses, (July 2, 1991-January 3, 2001). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Seventh Congress. Is a resident of Pontiac, Ill.
