College administrator. Sales representative. Hotel clerk. Member of the Pennsylvania state house of representatives, 1991-1998. Member of the Pennsylvania state senate, 1999-2004. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Ninth and to the six succeeding Congresses until his resignation on May 12, 2018 (January 3, 2005-May 12, 2018). Chair, Committee on Ethics (One Hundred Fourteenth Congress).
