Litton, 1973-1976. Federal co-chair, Ozarks Regional Commission, 1977-1981. Member, State senate, 1983-1993. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Third and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1993-January 3, 2001). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Seventh Congress.
