Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-first and to the eleven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1969-January 3, 1993). Was not a candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992. Died on November 30, 2001, in Mathews, Va. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
