Delegate, Republican National Convention, 1972. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-sixth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1997). Chairman, Committee on Government Reform and Oversight (One Hundred Fourth Congress). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fifth Congress in 1996. Died on May 28, 2021.
