Elected to the Washington house of representatives, 1974-1982. Served on the King County Metro Council, 1974-1975. Delegate, Washington State Republican conventions, 1976, 1978, and 1980. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-January 3, 1993). Was not a candidate for renomination in 1992 to the One Hundred Third Congress but was an unsuccessful candidate for the United States Senate. Is a resident of Aurora, Colo.
