(Wife of Quentin Northrup Burdick, daughter-in-law of Usher L. Burdick), a Senator from North Dakota. Born in Fargo, N. Dak. , February 6, 1922. Graduated from Fargo Central High School, 1939. Attended Principia College, Elsah, Ill. , and graduated from Northwestern University in 1943. Worked as a radio announcer in Moorhead, Minn. While a member of the North Dakota Democratic Non-Partisan League, worked as a volunteer in the 1964, 1970, 1976, and 1982 Senate reelection campaigns of Quentin Northrup Burdick. Appointed as a Democrat to the United States Senate on September 12, 1992, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband, Quentin Northrop Burdick. Took the oath of office on September 16, 1992, and served from September 12, 1992, to December 14, 1992, a successor having been chosen in a special election. Not a candidate for reelection. Died on December 26, 2019, in Fargo, N. Dak.
