This bill would amend the penalties for theft. The penalty for misdemeanor theft and the unlawful use of theft-detection shielding devices would increase to imprisonment for up to one year, a fine not to exceed $1,500, or both. The threshold for triggering a cumulative felony theft offense is reduced from five theft convictions to three.
