Summary

Present law authorizes t he commissioner of commerce and insurance to appoint a person, who is acting through a professional corporation pursuant to the Tennessee Professional Corporation Act and meets certain qualifications , as a commissioned deputy electrical inspector, who has all the power of other deputies and assistants to enter any building or premises to make inspections of the buildings and their contents, and to report the inspections in writing to the commissioner. Present law provides that a service release inspection is temporary service to allow for testing of equipment, environmental conditioning , and special operational equipment for construction. The inspection is valid for a period of 45 days on designated circuits only. This bill extends the time period in which the inspection is valid from 45 days to nine months.
