A RESOLUTION relative to naming the new entrance to the Motlow Tunnel at the Tennessee State Capitol.
ON APRIL 14, 2025, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND AD OPTED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 318, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 makes the following revisions: Includes, in the preamble, all of the names of the fifteen enslaved African Americans who were rented by the State government to quarry limestone at the State Capitol site . Adds to the preamble that, in 1858, Theodolphus Knoch and Johann Schleicher, two Bavarian artisans who had worked with William Strickland on previous projects, painted the Capitol's beautiful frescoed ceilings and that Mr. Schleicher's descendants still live in Nashville today .
