Title: AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, relative to residential educational programs.
ON MARCH 17, 2025, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 64, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 makes the following changes to the bill: Clarifies that only multi-occupancy restrooms, changing areas, and showers must be segregated by sex in elementary, middle, and secondary schools. Requires residential educational programs at private schools or postsecondary and higher education institutions to segregate such areas if a program allow s minors enrolled in elementary or secondary schools to stay overnight in residential facilities for purposes of the residential educational program.
