AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-17-1314; Section 70-1-206 and Section 70-4-107, relative to the authority of the Tennessee fish and wildlife commission to proscribe the manner and means of taking wildlife.
ON MARCH 12, 2026, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2028, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 makes technical corrections to the bill and adds a preamble. ON MARCH 19, 2026, THE HOUSE SUBSTITUTED SENATE BILL 2028 FOR HOUSE BILL 2017, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #3, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2028, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #3 s pecifies that this bill's prohibition against a local government r egulat ing the manner and means of taking wildlife while lawfully hunting does not prohibit a county or municipality from regulating the discharge of a firearm by a person lawfully hunting within 500 fee t of school property.
