This bill requires t he Tennessee bureau of investigation ( TBI ) to classify a person who is required to register pursuant to the law regarding sexual offender registration as a sexual offender, violent sexual offender, or viole nt juvenile sexual offender, and whether the person is an offender against children. The TBI may rely on investigative reports; files of a United States attorney, district attorney general, or other prosecutorial entity; court records; or other credible i nformation in classifying an offender under this bill . The TBI must notify the offender of the classification.
