California Assembly bill in Session 2025-2026.
Status: enacted. Latest action: July 30, 2025.
Route 76: Payómkawish Highway.
Existing law vests the Department of Transportation with full possession and control of all state highways. Existing law provides for the California Transportation Commission to adopt locations for state highways on routes authorized by law, and describes the authorized routes in the state highway system, including that for Route 76, as provided. This bill would name and designate specified portions of Route 76 as the “Payómkawish Highway.” The bill would require the department to determine the cost of appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving sufficient donations from nonstate sources to cover those costs, to erect those signs.
