Summary

This act proposes an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to: (1) amend Section 127, to provide that when the office of Lieutenant Governor is vacant more than 60 days before the next general election, a lieutenant governor shall be elected at the general election for the duration of the unexpired term; (2) authorize the Legislature to set the amount of compensation for the Lieutenant Governor and the officers of both houses by joint resolution; and (3) require that any expenditure of funds appropriated for use by members of the Legislature for travel expenses be approved by an officer of the Legislature elected from the full membership of the respective chamber.
