Summary

This act is the Peer-to-Peer Car Sharing Program Act. This act: (1) requires peer-to-peer car sharing programs to assume liability of shared vehicle owners for third-party damages and injuries, ensure shared vehicle owners and drivers are insured, have an insurable interest in a shared vehicle, provide certain notices to owners, collect certain information about the program, and ensure vehicles are safe before sharing; (2) provides for the rights and duties of insurers of shared vehicles, including the right to exclude any coverage of a shared vehicle; (3) provides requirements for peer-to-peer car sharing agreements between vehicle owners and drivers, including required terms and age limits; and (4) exempts programs and owners from vicarious liability based on vehicle ownership.
