United States Army Air Corps, fighter pilot in Southwest Pacific, 1942-1946. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters. Discharged as major in the Reserve. Farmer. Realator. Member of the South Carolina state house of representatives, 1958-1960. Delegate, South Carolina State Republican conventions, 1968, 1970. Delegate, Republican National Convention, 1968. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-third Congress (January 3, 1973-January 3, 1975). Unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-fourth Congress in 1974, and for election to the Ninety-fifth Congress in 1976. Unsuccessful candidate for election as Governor of South Carolina in 1978. Unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the Ninety-seventh Congress in 1980. Died on May 9, 2017, in Florence, S. C.
