Biography
A Representative from Pennsylvania. Born in Vineland, Cumberland County, N. J. , August 29, 1908. Attended the public schools in Oxford, Pa. , and Miami, Fla. B. S. , University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. , 1930. Public utility executive. Burgess, borough of Oxford, Pa. , 1956-1960. Member of the Pennsylvania state senate, 1961-1970. Chairman, Pennsylvania Republican finance committee. Trustee, Lincoln University and University of Pennsylvania. Elected simultaneously as a Republican to the Ninety-first and to the Ninety-second Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative George Robert Watkins, and reelected to the Ninety-third Congress (November 3, 1970-January 3, 1975). Was not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-fourth Congress in 1974. Died in West Lampeter Township, Pa. , July 29, 1997. Interment in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Chester County, Pa.
