A Representative from Rhode Island. Born in Providence, Providence County, R. I. , February 24, 1929. Attended La Salle Academy. A. B. , Providence College, Providence, R. I. , 1953. J. D. , Catholic University Law School, Washington, D. C. , 1956. Admitted to the bar in 1956. Lawyer, private practice. Elected to the Rhode Island general assembly, 1960-1967. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninetieth Congress by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative John E. Fogarty. Reelected to the three succeeding Congresses (March 28, 1967-January 3, 1975). Unsuccessful candidate for renomination to the Ninety-fourth Congress in 1974. Member, Federal Election Commission, 1975-1981. Died on October 15, 2014, in Providence, R. I.
