Served in the One Hundred and Eighth Cavalry, Missouri National Guard, 1948-1949. Automobile dealer, 1958-1973. Mayor, Sarcoxie, Mo. , 1954-1960. Republican National committeeman, 1966-1972. Delegate, Missouri State Republican conventions, 1960, 1964, 1968, and 1972. Delegate, Republican National Conventions, 1960-1968. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-third and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1973-January 3, 1989). Was not a candidate for renomination in 1988 to the One Hundred First Congress. Died October 27, 1998, in Springfield, Mo. Interment in Sarcoxie Cemetery, Sarcoxie, Jasper County, Mo.
