Va. , 1972-1980. Delegate, West Virginia State Republican conventions, 1976-1980. Delegate, Republican National Convention, 1980. Unsuccessful candidate for election to the Ninety-sixth Congress in 1978. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-seventh Congress (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1983). Unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-eighth Congress in 1982. Chief political advisor, U. S. Chamber of Commerce, 1984-1990. Resided in Inwood, W. Va. Until his death on April 14, 2014, in Winchester, Va.
