A Representative from Kansas. Born in Bloomington, McLean County, Ill. , February 23, 1926. Attended the Lexington, Ill. , public schools. B. S. , Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, 1946. M. D. , Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago Ill. , 1950. J. D. , Washburn University Law School, Topeka, Kans. , 1970. Served in the United States Air Force, 1953-1955. Discharged with rank of captain. Practiced medicine in Topeka, Kans. , 1955-1970. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-second and to the Ninety-third Congresses (January 3, 1971-January 3, 1975). Was not a candidate in 1974 for reelection but was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate. Unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate in 1978. Resumed the practice of medicine in Topeka. Died on May 26, 2014.
