A Representative from Connecticut. Born in Holyoke, Hampden County, Mass. , August 18, 1944. Attended Suffield (Conn. ) Elementary School. Graduated, Suffield High School. A. B. , Syracuse (N. Y. ) University, 1966. Studied in Florence, Italy, 1963-1964. M. A. , Boston (Mass. ) College, 1968. Served as Director, Office of Students and Youth, Office of United States Commissioner of Education, United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, 1969-1970. Staff assistant to United States Senator Walter F. Mondale, 1970-1971. Director, Connecticut (Hartford) Citizen Action Group, 1971-1974. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1983). Was not a candidate in 1982 for reelection to the United States House of Representatives but was an unsuccessful candidate for the United States Senate. Television news anchorman in West Hartford, Conn. , 1986-1989. Unsuccessful candidate for election to the One Hundred Second Congress in 1990. Is a resident of Stony Creek, Conn.
