A Representative from Nebraska. Born in Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebr. , July 9, 1907. Attended the public schools. Attended Dartmouth College. Engaged in the retail lumber business. Delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 1944 and 1948. Chairman, Nebraska State Republican committee, 1949-1954. Member, Republican National Committee, 1952-1954. Unsuccessful candidate for the Republican nomination for United States Senator in 1954. Elected as a Republican to the Eighty-seventh and to the six succeeding Congresses and served from January 3, 1961, until his resignation December 31, 1974. Was not a candidate for reelection in 1974 to the Ninety-fourth Congress. Was a resident of Kearney, Nebr. , until his death on May 15, 1997. Interment at Kearney Cemetery, Kearney, Nebr.
