A Representative from Louisiana. Born in Dayton, Ohio, February 7, 1924. Graduated from Camp Hill High School, Camp Hill, Pa. , 1942. B. A. , Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La. , 1948. United States Navy, World War II. Aide to Senator Wayne Morse. Aide to Representative James G. Polk. Delegate, Democratic National Convention,1980 and 1984. Member of the Louisiana State Democratic Financial Council. Member of the Louisiana state central committee. Member of the Louisiana Democratic leadership council. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-ninth Congress by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband, United States Representative Gillis W. Long (March 30, 1985-January 3, 1987). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundredth Congress in 1986. Died on November 23, 2019, in Chevy Chase, Md.
