Robert L. Leggett

A Representative from California. Born in Richmond, Contra Costa County, Calif. , July 26, 1926. Attended the public schools of Richmond, Calif. Served as an enlisted man in the United States Navy Air Corps, 1944-1946. University of California at Berkeley, Calif. , B. A. , 1947, and the University of California Boalt Hall School of Jurisprudence, J. D. , 1950. Was admitted to the bar in 1951 and began the practice of law in Vallejo, Calif. Member of the State assembly in 1960 and 1962. Elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-eighth and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1963-January 3, 1979). Was not a candidate for reelection in 1978 to the Ninety-sixth Congress. Died August 13, 1997, in Orange, Calif. Interment at Harbor Lawn-Mount Olive Memorial Park, Costa Mesa, Calif.
