B. , University of Maryland, College Park, Md. , 1951. LL. B. , George Washington University, Washington, D. C. , 1953. Lawyer, private practice. Assistant counsel Champion International Corp. , 1957-1973. Mayor of Hamilton, Ohio, 1964-1967. Member, Hamilton, Ohio, City Council, 1964-1969. Member of the Ohio state house of representatives, 1971-1974. Delegate, Ohio State Republican conventions, 1971-1974. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-fourth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1987). One of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives in 1986 to conduct the impeachment proceedings against Harry E. Claiborne, judge of the United States District Court for Nevada. Was not a candidate for reelection in 1986, but was an unsuccessful candidate for the United States Senate. Unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the One Hundred Second Congress in 1990. Died on January 8, 2004, in Exeter, England.
